Tunneling
and mining projects requiring vertical access shafts for the supply
of construction materials, ventilation and the introduction or
removal of construction plant, make use of Vibro-pile's capacity
to excavate shafts top-down, to very demanding vertical tolerances.
This method of excavation avoids the usual delays associated with
raise-boring methods, where the shaft spoil must be removed along
the tunnel, and raise-boring therefore cannot be started prior
to tunnelling reaching the proposed shaft location.
Vibro-pile
has installed shafts up to 7 metres diameter in rock, as well
as to depths of up to 116 metres at a diameter of 3 metres, through
Hawkesbury sandstone of UCS up to 60MPa.
